If you have yet to experience coaching, it may be time to consider this new adventure for several reasons. Whether it’s for personal growth, to navigate a challenging situation you face, or for clarity and direction on what’s next in your life, coaching provides a reasoned pathway forward.
Throughout my time watching individuals learn and grow to their full potential through coaching, these are the benefits I have come to recognize and appreciate:
1. Finding purpose and fulfillment
Sometimes we don’t know where we are going, but we instinctively know we are not moving in the right direction. I think we have all found ourselves on the wrong road at some point in our lives. Coaching allows you to explore your passions and identify what is important to you in order to have a more meaningful and fulfilling life. Get back on the interstate and off those messy backroads you’ve been winding through!
2. Gaining objectivity and perspective
It is easy to lose our perspective in the middle of a storm. Of course, we can’t be truly unbiased when it comes to our own situations, and expecting such would be unfair to both ourselves and others. Coaching helps you see your situation from different angles and brings new insights to consider while hearing from an impartial, third party. You gain clarity by focusing on what is most important to you and what truly matters. What does your rainbow at the end of the storm look like?
3. Navigating transitions
There are changes in our life, both expected and unexpected, that can knock us off our feet. A crushed individual receiving divorce papers in the mail, entrepreneurs starting a new business, new parents holding their newborn for the first time, a workaholic facing the reality that retirement is around the corner. Life happens, and coaching can provide guidance and support as you adapt and learn to thrive through new circumstances. Don’t just get through it – grow through it.
4. Overcoming obstacles
We often get in our own way of accomplishing our dreams. Is it self-doubt, procrastination, or fear that is holding you back? Are there other external factors you don’t want to address? Coaching helps identify and address the obstacles in your way – both the ones you’ve seen and recognized as well as the ones that might be hiding in the closet. Put your rain boots on and let’s jump through the puddles!
These are just a few of the many benefits that I believe make coaching extremely valuable. I have seen lives transformed and restored with purpose and fulfillment. A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step, and that first step requires action to plan your best path forward.
